Purpose

The reason i choose to do my website assignment on the Juarez drug cartel is because it's made an impact on my life. I have had family members going in and out of prison for drug trafficking and making stupid decisons. I have also had a few deaths because of this as well. Most of my family lives in Mexico, so to my family and I it's important to make sure we watch the news ect, to know that everyone we love is safe. That is why I choose this topic.

Significance

Mexican drug cartels have made a huge impact on many people. Many families have lost loved ones due to other people's careless actions. There have been at least 20,000 deaths in the past year. Drug cartels I believe have strengthen border polocies and also givin us more security. There events have opened many peoples eyes. Mexican and American goverments are making efforts to put an end to this.

History

These drug trafficking orgrinazations or cartels have existed for a long period of time, yet they have become more powerful then Colombia's Cali and Medellin Cartels in the 1990's, wch by the way was infamous to world drug trade. Not only has the mexican goverment had a difficult time trying to stop these organizations, but american law enforcements have had to step in as well. There have been more then 60 americans that have been kidnapped, and in July 2007, Mexican drug cartes threaten to kill a U.S journalist who was covering the drug violence in the border regions. Throught out the years different cartels have formed allianace with each other, and not they work together to supply drugs in different places. Through January 2000 and September 2006, the Mexican Goverment arrested over 79,000 people on drug realated charges.

Juarez War on Drugs

The Juarez Drug Cartel has been one of the most dangorous and violent drug wars to happen in Mexico and the surronding areas. There have been many deaths involved with this horrid situation. Many innocent people have lost their lifes due to ruthless drug traffickars. Mexico is major drug producing country and is the main supplier of marijuana and methamphetamines to the United states. Not only that, but an estimated 90% of cocaine entereing the Untied States crosses Mexico. Mexican drug cartels and trafficking orginazations include relations with gangs, one of the gangs are the notorious Mara Salvatrucha. Mara salvatrucha are known for their cruel killings. According to the Mexican Goverment, there are at least 7 drug cartels operating in Mexico. These are, the Gulf Cartel, Sinaloa Cartel, Mueveo Laredo Cartel, Guerrero Cartel, Michoacan Cartel, Tijuana Cartel, and last but not least Juarez.
